When putting this website together, I went online to look for photos that would illustrate life in Beijing. I grabbed the image you see at the top of my site from a photographer called Zhang Kaiyv. Initially, I thought it would be a place holder until I could find a photo that I would have the permission to use. In the end, I liked the photo so much that I tracked down Mr. Zhang and to ask if I could pay to use the photo indefinitely. He said not to worry about it and to go ahead and use his photos.

Zhang Kaiyv has a special way of capturing the feeling and energy of the city in a way that only someone with a deep connection to Beijing can. Here are some more photos from his Pexel page. I hope more people can appreciate this photographer’s incredible eye!
